1. City Waterfront Lounges That Shine Brighter at Night: Suwon's Gwanggyo Lake Park and Daegu's Suseongmot

A single well-made urban lake park can completely transform a city's nighttime scenery. At Suwon's Gwanggyo Lake Park, when the lights come on along the 'Urban Levee,' a multilevel pedestrian deck linking Woncheon Lake and Sindae Lake, and on the round ring deck floating on the water, it shows off the most sophisticated waterfront night view in Korea.

At Daegu's Suseongmot Pond Recreation Area, huge old willows and benches line the 2 km loop trail, and rooftop cafes and restaurants stand in a row just across the lake, making it a wonderfully romantic place to enjoy the musical fountain and the ripples with a coffee in hand.

Yeohaenggak editor's tip Both lake parks are entirely flat with no steps, so they are very easy to stroll after dinner in light clothes or with a stroller.

2. The Beauty of Walking on Water via Decks and Bridges: Gunsan's Eunpa Lake Park and Jeonju's Ajung Lake

The two lakes of the Jeolla region, gently embraced by mountain slopes, are known for water decks that cross right over the surface. Gunsan's Eunpa Lake Park is well equipped with 'Mulbit Bridge,' a 370 m suspension-style footbridge across the middle of the lake, and a waterside loop deck, offering spring cherry blossoms and fresh greenery by day and softly lit bridge views by night.

Jeonju's Ajung Lake combines a wooden deck trail stretching far out over the water with the hanok-designed 'Ajung Lake Library' on the shore, making it a healing spot where you can escape the crowded tourist sites and enjoy books, music, and lake views all at once.

Yeohaenggak editor's tip Anyone can enter Jeonju's Ajung Lake Library to read and rest for a while as they gaze at the lake through the windows.

3. Wide-Open Lawns and Lakeside Leisure: Sejong Lake Park and Chuncheon's Gongjicheon

If you want vast waterside plazas with open views and a picnic, head to Sejong and Chuncheon. Sejong Lake Park spreads a pebble-shaped Floating Stage Island, a sand beach, and a wetland island across Korea's largest artificial lake, and it links up with the neighboring Sejong National Arboretum and Ieung Bridge into one huge green axis.

At Gongjicheon Sculpture Park and Gongjicheon Recreation Area, where Chuncheon's Uiamho Lake meets the Gongjicheon stream, sculptures on the lakeside lawns, willow-lined walking paths, and a duck boat dock come together, letting you feel up close the lyrical mood of Chuncheon, the 'city of lakes.'
